Ok well i really want to plant my tank and i have a 33 gallon freshwater community tank and well i just have a normal filter system and i have a light that is ment for plants but i have no idea what it is called!!!
Well the fish that are in my tank are:
(All of my fish are fully grown too)
- 2 blue gouramis
- 1 kissing gourami
- 2 cherry barbs
- 1 scissortail rasbora
- 1 african clawed frog
- 3 black skirt tetras
- 2 silvertip tetras
- 1 pleco
- 1 cory
- 1 loach
- 5 striped pencil fish
- 10 glowligh tetras (love)
And with all of them i really would like to put lots and lots of plants in my tank!!!!!
I have had experience with plants as i have had them but i was just wonderinf what you guys would give me some kinds of plants that you like and would put into a 33 gallon tank!!!!!
Thanks!!!
I know that this was really long but..i appriciate it!!!
:D
Do you know how many watts of light you have on the tank?
What kind of pleco is it? You know of course that the common pleco will grow to over 12" long, right? And that corys are schooling fish and like company of their own kind?

The wattage should be printed on the bulb, we really need to know how much light you have in order to recommend plants

You stated that all the fish are fully grown, I don't think you could fit a fully grown kissing Gourami in a 33 gallon tank!! Also, that type of Loach do you have, Loaches are like Corys, they are schooling fish that need company of their own kind. Most Loaches will get aggressive if the are alone.

So you have 46 watts over a thirty gallon, which is not very much. I would stick to low to medium low watt plants.
Mosses, java fern, anacharis,
check out this link and search for plants that require low to medium low light.
It should give you a godo idea of what is out there.

Don;t worry, there are plenty of plants that can grow under your aquarium conditions. Once you check out the link you will see the options that are open to you. Your light does not really determine how many plants you can have, but what type can survive.
Think of it this way. When you are planting a flower bed you need to figure out if the flower bed is shaded or not. IF it is shaded it needs plants that can adapt to that condition. It by no means says that the shaded flower bed is not going to be as dense, or look as pretty. it just means that the type of plants that will grow there are different then the plants that will grow other places.
You will be amazed at what low light plants can do an aquarium. In fact my favorite plant right now is on the bottom of the light scale. I am in love with mosses. I have over 4 different kinds and they each add their own unique look to my aquariums.

Thought you might like that. I have found that to be my biggest plant reference site on the web. And you thought you would not be able to find plants that you like that would grow under your conditions. Good luck and happy planning. When you are looking to procure them let me know and I can point you in the direction of one or two places to look.
