A week ago I built the new layout of my aqua. Here's the setup:

Aquárium: JUWEL Lido 120 L
Filter: EHIM Professionel 2224
Heat: NEWATT 150W
Light:
JBL Solar Tropic Ultra 24W
JBL Solar Ultra Color 24W
DENNERLE Special Plant 24 W
DENNERLE Color-Plus 24 W
Uv - AQUA MEDIC 5W
CO2:
JBL – Soleniode valve ProFlora v002
JBL – Pressure regulation ProFlora m001
JBL – ProFlora u500

Flora
Anubia Barteri
Cyperus helferi
Lomariopsis Lineata
Cladophora Aegagrophila
Microsorium Pteropus

Fauna
Red cherry
12 neons
5 otocinclus
1 ancistru
2 Apistos fire red (couple)

to remove those films at the surface of water, last Saturday put another filter working EHIEM 2222, with surface skimmer. When installing the filter, put in SERA Siporax quantity of bacteria (SERA filter biostart).

In the evening I noticed that the shrimp died and that fish were all afloat in water, with difficulty breathing. I made a TPA of 50% and today morning I've noticed that fish were still afloat. I turned on the air diffuser and when back home, I encountered this type of algae or fungi, that covered the tree trunks, plants, gravel and even the air diffuser. See photos:

I've been thinking:
Did I put excess of bacteria in the filter? I need help to know what you have done this type of trigger or FUNGUS ALGA and how to combat this plague.

Soon I'll put photos

Unless I missed it, I didn't see your water parameters? Ammonia and/or nitrites would quickly wipe out shrimp and leave fish trying to breath at the surface. Also, algae will explode when water conditions turn bad.

If (and I am not sure by what you wrote so just bear with me) you have a new filter, what became of the old one? If not running too, then you would have a cycle crash since the new filter is uncycled (Yes, guessing here - for all I know the old filter is running.)

Also, if the old gravel was really stirred, ammonia or other really bad wastes could have been released when creating the new layout - that would cause a huge but short lived spike of some nasty chemicals that the filter(s) would slowly eliminate but could start an algae bloom and kill a lot of fish/shrimp. I have had that happen in the past - just a thought.

By the way, I have near zero faith in bacteria boosters of any type - don't think they hurt but don't believe for a second that they do what they say since most bacreia dies in a bottle. My opinon and that is all it is so don't take it as correct fact.

Until you measure and post water conditions, really lost here. :11:
