Hello All
I'm new to this hobby as of 3 weeks ago. I have a 55 gallon freshwater aquarium and has been cycling for 3 weeks. The first week running I added water conditioner and a bacteria starter. On the second week I added some cycle fish, 5 tiger barbs and 4 platties. Since then I've added 3 more tiger barbs and 2 juli cories. I've lost one of the cories and 1 platty. Not sure whether the cause was the water conditions or those 2 fish just didn't adjust to the tank. All the fish that are still surviving the cycle are active and eating regularly. I've tested the water several times and the only thing that isn't where I think it should be is the water hardness and the nitrite level. The nitrite is climbing somewhat but I guess that could simply be the tank making its way through that part of the cycle.
I welcome your comments and opinions as I'm new to the hobby and still learning. Thanks!!
Oh, and when I can get to a computer I will post a link to a video of my tank.
