thumbs2:

Very happy!

Looks like I am going to have a mated pair of Jack Dempsey's - providing the male makes it past the 4" stage.

I've seen him and a reg female JD playing kissy-fins a couple times now.

I know its a bit soon to be wondering about this, as the male may not make it, plus the female is getting bigger than the male - but will I be able to sell the fry, do you think? Will the females be worth more than the males (as if I will be able to sex them when they are fry, ha!)?

I won't be able to breed any EBJDs as I have no intention of dumping my current pair to keep a female from them and get a new male EBJD, so I'm just wondering what I am going to do with the fry...there can't be that many breeders out there looking for Rb (Reg dom x blue) fry...?

that is very cool and i think you will not have a hard time selling them you just need to find people that have room for them.

How bout some pics too.

If you're planning to breed ANY species of SA or CA cichlid it's wise to have something on hand that will eat extra fry. Once they start breeding (assuming they don't eat their own fry) you'll have hundreds of them each spawn, and the pair likely will keep at it for 5-6 rounds before taking a break.

Their spawns would produce BGJD. There is some market for the BGJD as EBJD breeders need them to produce EBJDs. Don't expect to make a killing though, and definitely have something to eat extra fry like Todd said. I'm not sure what the market is like in Canada either. You can always cull spawns by vacuuming up the eggs after a spawning.
