I changed out puffin's plants in his bowl today. Mostly cause the ones I originally chose were probably the worst ones you can get for a betta. lol
They were plastic, long, pokey and ridgid. So yeah, went out and bought new plants. One plant is plastic, but its tall with small round leafs. the other one that takes up most of the bottom, is silk/polyester. Its got larger, soft, round leafs. Puffin is going absolutely nuts about them! lol He's swimming all around the leafs, up underneath, around the tall ones. Its like I gave him an amusement park. lol I didn't realize how much of a difference it would make.

I also put in some maracyn. That white patch under his chin is driving me insane. He doesn't seem to be bothered at all by the meds, or maybe he's just to interested in the new plants to care. lol :) Yay! Whatever makes him happy, makes me happy I guess :)

Here's a link to the plants I got--- The one I have is the #3--water nymph

And the other one I can't find a link for...bought it at walmart for like $2. Its by AQUA Culture and its the small sized "Moneywort" plant.

Cool! They do like their plants! They'll even 'rest' on broad leaves!

All my fish love new stuff - as long as its not another fish!

Good luck with the white patch:c3:

Valuable lesson learned about aquascaping. Fish really react to it, and it is one of the reasons why I am adamant that you CAN determine if a fish is happy or not. Really glad your buddy likes his new plants. Every now and then maybe change out a plant or rearrange, they enjoy the "newness" of doing such.

I agree with you on being able to tell whether or not fish are happy - if I pay attention to mine the way I am supposed to they will tell me that something if off long before it becomes a problem.

Absolutely. There is such a huge difference on fish surviving and them being happy. A lot of stocking options come down to a point of "well you COULD do it, but you're not so smart doing so because of (whatever reasons)".

I can't wait to see how he reacts when I get him into his permanent heated and larger home. Time's going sooooo slow it seems, to get that thing delivered here. Should be here Tuesday or Wednesday most likely.

I'm excited for you! Is the 2.5 one of the Eclipse tanks?

Its the 2.5 mini-bow. I could've just picked it up from walmart (even though their site says online only), but all they have is the teal, purple and blue. I wanted a black one, so I had to order it. I think colored tanks take away from the colors of the fish.

Very cool. I agree that some of those colored tanks take away from the colors of the fish. I have been looking at those 2.5 gallon tanks lately to expand the betta repertoire. We shall see. When you get it all set up I hope to see pics!

Oh most definitely will have pics to show! :D Hope it turns out as good as it looks in my head! lmao I was thinking about using sand instead of gravel on this one, read a page where someone used pool filter sand for theirs and it sounded interesting. Light colored with dark speckles, also round in shape instead of jagged like other types. Seems nice.

Both my 2.5 and 5 are Minibows. I really like them. They are nice tanks for the price. I got the teal one for my son's room then got a dark blue one for Skarloey when I had to move him in his own tank. I kinda like the colors. A little change of pace from the usual black.

I thought about getting a teal one for my daughters room and getting her a betta, but I think she's too young yet. She'd probably try petting hers. lmao
She's only 2 1/2. Maybe for her 3rd birthday in March. Or Christmas next year.

Mine would probably have tried to color them in at that age!
