Is Livebearer Fish Food strictly for livebearers or can you feed it to other fish too? I had just bought some platys and the Pet store was out of regular flake food so I picked out some livebearer food. The only thing is, when I get more fish, that aren't livebearers, for the tank, can I still feed it to them?

Just because the box has a picture of a platy doesn't necessarily mean it has to only be for platies. Try feeding your other fish, if they eat it, then you dont have to go out and buy another kind of food.

it should be okay for most fish. livebearer food im pretty sure has more of a veggie diet since most livebearers are herbivorous. as long as you mix that food with other regular food you should be fine

Thanks! I just wasn't sure if it's bad to feed it to other fish or not. Better safe than sorry!

It's always better to ask - some fish can't handle meat - some fish can't handle vegetables - it can really mess them up.

They make specilized foods, because those foods contian specific amounts of crude fats/proteins/fibers/nutrients to fit the needs of that certain fish. That doesnt mean you cant feed it to other fish, it just means it was designed for livebearers.

I just meant that it was good to ask because it COULD have been something that could cause trouble with other fish - like the spirulina flakes - feeding them to a Red Devil or something could accidently bind it up.
