Food question

For the past few weeks I have just been feeding my fish regular flakes. I want to get some variation into their diet so I plan on buying some of the freeze dried shrimp.
Before I go out and buy some I found a container of shrimp that I bought like 3-4 years ago when I had fish. The top tin-foil is pulled off but I don't ever think I had touched the food. It smells and looks fine. Is it ok to use or is it old and it lost all its nutrients?
Also, since I have small fish like cardinal tetras is it a good idea to break the shrimp up real small?

I do when I feed it to them - I wouldn't use those shrimp - the can is probably more nutritous than the food by now.

I alternate the flake with freeze dried bloodworms and shrimp. Most days flake and twice a week for the others.

i go with a huge mix. they get whatever they want. i regularly feed bloodworm, squid, flakes, pellets, packaged fruit fly's, crickets, everything, unless the fish has a special died like a mbuna in which case they get little meat

Are you talking about shrimp your buy at the supermarket? Cus that shrimp is adored by my bichir(eats it out my hand), turtles, EVEN GOLDFISH to who i feed to my cuddas.

They are tiny little shrimp that come in a can - they have been freeze dried so they are kinda brownish orange and crumbly

They may be - but they're just called baby shrimp - they come in a plastic bottle and look almost just like the bottles of freeze dried bloodworms.

They are about 1/8 of an inch long and dried out - the bottom half of the container is pretty much dust.

Sharks go crazy for them and will eat themselves to death if you aren't careful

No, just baby shrimp as a supplement to your regular staple diet for your fish.
