Decided it was about time I cleaned out the canister (haven't done it for ages, naughty) and got a nice little surprise thumbs2:

Got about 50 cherry shrimp and a khuli loach living in the bottom basket lmao
These are all back in the main tank, looking forward to seeing whats in the other canister when I do it next week.
Think I've got about 150 cherries now.... mental!!!!!!!

That's a great surprise! It's awesome that they survived.
What model filter do you use? A friend of mine found about 15 baby corries in her filter a couple years ago.

thanks guys :)
I might considder a piece of sponge on the intake now just for ease.
I'm running an aqua one 1200 external and an Ehime pro ecco 130 (600lt).
I'm going to start a poll on how many will be in the smaller canister now, I'm thinking 20 lol.
Won't have time to check this week though, gonna sort the Reef this week once and for all lmao

Wow, I would've never guessed looking at shrimp + a loach in the bottom basket of a cannister. That's incredible!

Wow, i'm now inspired to open/clean my canister earlier than needed! lol. Doubt i'd find anything more than just dirt!
BTW, wish i can get those kind of shrimp here. Only ones i can get are the dead ones down at the fish market. LOL

I remember when something similar was happening to Brhino recently. Instead of shrimp in the filter he was getting them in his overflow box. Here (http://www.aquaticcommunity.com/aquariumforum/showthread.php?t=75615)'s the link to his thread.

Is there gunna be another 'guess-the-number-of-shrimp-in-my-filter' game?

I cleaned my canister for the first time Saturday.. Fairly sure nothing could ever live inside of mine! Pretty interesting find though.. I imagine you caught them just in time. Can't see anything living in total darkness in a highly turbulent environment for very long!

Well considering they surprised the impeller of doom, you need to raise these guys up to adults now.

*Survived lol took me a second to understand what you were trying to say
The pump is after all of the filter media so I don't think they had a run-in with the impeller. If they had, I'm sure they would have quite the story to tell at the local shrimp-bar. I'm sure they would tell it over a shrimp-cocktail.
