I was changing my water today and I use a huge hose to just syphon all the water out of the tank. Well my school of cardinals went near it and I didn't see anything. I go outside to dump the bucket and there is one of my cardinals swimming in the bucket. He must of got sucked up in the hose.
I just thought it was kind of amuzing so I had to post it.

I can't take my eyes off my bumblebees for a second when I vacuum - their favorite thing in the whole world is taking rides in the hose:c5:

That's funny, normally my gouramis arethe brave ones. If I am anchoring new plants or just doing stuff with my hands in my aquarium the gouramis will peck at my arm and such.

I always take mine out of the tank, to be on the safe side. But last time one of my neons jumped the bowl and died...so I guess that wasn't such a good idea either! lol I wish it were easier for me!
My mosquito fish like to get sucked up.

Doing a water change on a 5 gallon must be nice hahaa.
On my 29 it's several trips up and down the stairs with 7 gallons worth of water each time then a few gallon jug runs. Takes me about 20 minutes to get water back into my tank.

Since you just have small fish - you could get an extra net - cut the netting off of it - then attach it to the end of the vacuum. Just cup the end before you pull it out to catch any food that gets pulled up and won't fit through.
I can't because I have plecos and their poo won't fit through the holes. I am not really keen on catching that!
My corys love to play with the gravel vac. So far only one mishap and he was okay. Its inevitable that they sometimes get accidentally sucked up. Glad you saw him before you dumped the water!

I once sucked up a 1/2 inch endleri guppy baby and chucked the bucket down the loo, I came back with another bucket full from my other tank to find him swimming around in the loo and had to spend 20 mins trying to catch itout with a net which was too big.
I now only use my yellow bucket rather than the black bucket so I can see if I suck any more up.

I am pretty sure the bucket I use is about 10 gallons at least. I only fill it to the 6 gallon mark line as that is all I can carry alone.

Oh yeah, I love changing the water on the 5 gal! So easy! lol :) Dump the dirty water in the toilet and fill the bucket up in the bathtub! hahaha
My 27 is gonna be fairly easy too. Its going in the dinning room which is close to the kitchen/sink. so shouldn't be a problem.

Get yourself a python and that will be even easier.
