I was browsing goldfish info last night and came across a site with photos of different procedures, including a wen trim on an oranda.

I was wondering if goldfish with a wen usually need their wen trimmed, or how common it is that they do. I have a lionhead youngster (no wen growth yet) and was curious.

Wens need trimming once they grow over the eyes of the goldfish. When that happens, it keeps them from being able to find food easily and they become less active. Some wens grow over the eyes and some don't. Genetics is the main factor for wen growth and just how much of the eyes it covers. If your fish can see, you don't have to worry about trimming the wen.

Ok, thanks for the reply! I'll just hope my little lionhead has bad, baaadddd genetics, then, when it comes to fantastic wen growth and the high quality food I feed him isn't "that" good! lol
