I was able to track down someone locally that had Cherry Shrimp for a reasonably price. He gave me 30+ for $10 (he even threw in a clump of Java moss). They are settling in well. I will post pics when I get a chance.

Glad you found some. Even better when you don't have to factor in shipping costs.

I am glad I got pictures before I released them or I wouldn't believe they exist, lol. 30+ shrimp in a tank and you can maybe see 2. I don't know if they are just getting used to the place or that's just the way they are...

You'll be surprised how many turn up after you put some food into the tank near the front. It will look like their all mining for gold.

That's a great price. Keep the tank nice and stable and you should have population explosion in a month or two.

Nice and red. I have brown gravel in my tank and my shrimp seem to have taken on the color of the gravel. I'm thinking they would redden up more on black gravel.

Great photos.

I am hoping they get nice and red. I noticed I have a large female, so I hope they breed. My fish are entirely confused by them. The gouramis will nip if they can get to the back of a shrimp, but if it turns around the gourami turns tail and runs. I am going to pick up some algae wafers tomorrow.

They're supposed to like boiled carrots. Remove in a few hours tho. (I just read that 5 minutes ago.) They also are more red when you have black gravel, which I don't.

My state doesn't allow any type of fresh water shrimp into the state due to quarantine restrictions. We are a large island but as we don't have any shrimp in our waterways thet won't permit any for aquariums. Makes sense I guess but is a bit annoying. Would love to have some.

I actually have you to thank :)
As I wasn't even thinking about shrimp until you posted that you had some to ship! I got the black sand/gravel mix, because I can only effort to do fancy gravel in a smaller tank and I figured it would look better for a planted tank. I was thinking kuhli loaches or Pygmy cities for the tank, but when I saw "cherry shrimp" it was meant to be! Lol. It rounded out my "little" tank perfectly. I call it my little tank, because everything in it will be less then 2" adult. It's great to be able to sit at my desk and watch them. I do find my dwarf pencilfish to be a little irritating, nothing should be THAT horny. I swear they are breeding more then 75% of the time.
