Hey everybody,
Ok I'm looking for some LPS help. I have an acro which I kinda bought by mistake/being to over zealous. But regardless it's in the tank and I wanna try and keep it alive, the polyps haven't been out in a couple days but it isn't bleaching that I can tell yet. Anything I can do to try and get it to settle in? The water quality is fine by my tests. The algae is going away and I think it was more of a flow problem than anything else.
Anybody any suggestions?
Thanks!!!
Cliff

I have found my SPS do well on the very top of my rocks which is only about 6" from the top of the tank. There also is a lot of flow in that area as well. With 6 bulbs of T5HO, they get a lot of light.
Is your SPS in the same type of spot?
Are you also testing for Cal and dKH ?

Flow is the most important thing with sps especially with acros. Most of my acros are in moderate to heavy flow and if the flow is any less they start to get slow tissue necrosis until I up the flow again, that's why my large colonies are directly in front of power heads. As they grow into colonies you need to keep an eye on flow, because as the start to get larger, they will block of flow to themselves and others and start to go downhill fast

I have the acro right off to the side of my power head, but I think I'll change it so it's shooting right at it. However the power head is only like 3 inches from the acro is that ok?
And Cliff I haven't checked my levels since last week but I didn't do calc or dKH... will do tomorrow (testing/water change day lol)

As long as its not blasting flesh off. Ours are very close to evo 750's and k2's but I wouldn't put them directly in front of an MP40
