It should work - PH is PH

Ph would probably work but what about the other component? Is it the acid? I remember having 2 little tubes we had to test when I had to maintain a pool at work. That was a million years ago though so my memory is sketchy.

Back before the last Ice Age my dad used to test the pool for Chlorine - PH - and alkalinity

It should be fine, but for the long term, just use an aquarium test kit.

I yeah, that's it. Thanks for the memory RobbieG. Mine is almost gone since I had my son 4 years ago. I do remember that, thank goodness. LOL!

How many capfuls of water conditioner do you need for a swimming pool anyways?

OK thanks Everyone. I do plan on buying a pool test kit but the Wal-Mart where I live is out of them and I will have to go to New Hampshire after I cash my check tomorrow. I just wanted to test it Today before the kids go swimming. As for the amount of conditioner to use it depends on the size of the pool...I bought these all in one tablets to put in this little floaty thing and I also bought this other powder mix stuff. Hubby is in charge of the Pool stuff...I have no idea what is what. He asked me this question and I asked you all...Really so I could be right but it seems y'all sided with him...Kidding

Why do you want to test your pool water? It's just a waste of time, you are not going to live in it.. lol

Right, to you it may be a waste, But I have three children that are young and I don't need them drinking NASTY water and getting sick and I am sure they have drank some of the pool water. Also if they have a cut and are swimming in some nasty germie water then they can get an infection. I could keep going with reasons but I think you now get the reason I want to test the water.

Correct me if im wrong, but pools need to be in a certain pH range, with certain chlorine levels, and such.

Oh, i didnt know pH could do that.

It will work in your pool. Because both of them are freshawater, i am assuming your pool is freshwater lol.

I dont know if it is the PH that can cause harm to us or what it is they say to test all three. So to be safe that's what we did. I also have an old test kit from last year and still have some of the stuff for the chlorine & alkaline not the PH....you see? I had to test everything. Plus it had rained and then pollution from that can also get into the pool and you should wait a half an hour before going swimming for the Chlorine to do it's work.
