Its a nice muddy green color right now. The muddy isw from the freshly divided and repotted lilys. The green is normal for this time of year with no uv clarifier installed and lack of shade. I installed the uv with a brand new bulb today and skimmed off any mat algae. The lilys will start growing like crazy now and the uv will knock back the green water. I will post more vids to my youtube page and bump this thread when I do so that you may enjoy my pond with me. Thanks for looking:22:

link didn't work for me, perhaps because it's the mobile version and I'm on my desktop. Anyhow, here it is again:

Looking good! You tempt me to head into my backyard with a shovel and dig myself a koi pond! (or a big mud puddle. You know, whichever!)

That gives me some ideas for my pond project.

Mud puddles are cool too! Koi are nothing but carp and carp like nothing better then rooting up mud! Finned scaly pigs really:hmm3grin2orange:
Thx Brhino for the std version repost. I am still too cheap to buy a puter:sconfused:

I'm looking forward to see your pond thoughout the year

As I don't have the yard space (or enough summer) to have a pond of my own, I'm going to enjoy yours

Bumparoo. This vid is 4 days later. Most of the murk is from mud and what green alagae remains is taking longer then usual to clear because of the muddy water impeding the uv.

That link isn't gettin' it.

Pond is coming along so well and I can't believe it's been two years already since you dug that bugger. I am surprised some idiot hasn't thrown something in it to kill your fish so near the fence like that. Afraid I don't have as much trust in the human race as you do.

I'd simply have to be doing a privacy fence being paranoid and all. :)

That's pretty cool! I'm just a few niles north of you though, vals might not like the 6 month winter times:hmm3grin2orange:
I do know what you mean though, once the surrounding vegatation catches up and the lilys spread out,the gw will go away for me as well. Till then, its good old GE electric algae waster bulbs for methumbs2:

I wasnt sure how far north you live. I was thinking more along the lines of potted plants that could be wintered inside. Are you using native aquatics/marsh plants?

I have dwarf cattail, dwarf lotus, and 6 hardy lilys in the water. Around it are asstd grass ,dwarf jap maple and asstd tall herb plants. Then there are the 2 pecan trees that give shad around mid may. I did try some extra ludwigia from my planted tank in our little pond,it looked pretty cool for awhile till the koi ate them. The koi really limit what plants you can keep, plants such as hornwort won't make it 3 days, floaters like water lettuce and hyacyntth get there roots eaten, potted lily I can keep because of the rocks and broken pottery shards I pack around there bulbs.next year when these guys exceed 2 ft I won't be able to keep potted plants because they will tip them over. I need to put rings through there nostrils like :hmm3grin2orange: farmers do hogs to keep them from rooting

I run the pumps year round. Even through this years deep freeze the pond never froze over. I've kept a pond now for about 7 yrs in one size or another,I have always just ran a pump with the jet toward the surface. Now with this pond, the skimmer and waterfall keep it ice free no matter how cold it gets.

Here it is a week and half after turning the uv on. There is no green left now,not in the water column anyway, just on the sides and bottom but the fish munch on that.
