Ick is like the one of the most common if not the most common fish disease and everyone complains about it. My fish got it about 3 months ago. I saw it on one fish and the next morning about 6 or 7 more got it too.. So i looked up why they had white spots and found out it was Ick so i went out and baught the medicine.. But i am wondering, what causes it? Poor water quality?

Ichthyophthirius multifiliis (ich or ick), is a protazoan that is present in EVERY aquarium. Ich kills fish by latching on to their gills, and eventually suffacating them. Fish contract the ich when poor water quality or other factors cause stress, which could also lead to other ailments and diseases.
