Photo of mini-plant on Java Fern

I have had several java ferns that get mini-plants on the tip of the leaves. This one seems especially nice and I have tried to take a photo of it. It might not be easy to see, but it is the uppermost leaf, and you will see root structure coming out.

And yes, I get brown algae on my plants. But they keep growing just fine.

That's one of the ways that java ferns will make new plants/leaves. If your algae keeps up you'll probably start to see more of those. When adult leaves begin to go dormant becuase they have reached max size or have algae (mine look like that too (blush)) you'll get little plants like that which will sprout off a leaf.
