Rainbow Fish....salt or no salt?

Some rainbows require adding salt and others do not. Does anyone know which ones require the salt or should they all?

The information I find is conflicting since rainbows like planted tanks and salt should not be used in planted tanks. Or with most bottom feeders.

I should probably post this is the Rainbow forum but thought I'd give it a go here.

OK Hobbs. I will answer your question. NO. Rainbow fish do not need salt but it can be used for treatment of disease. Some species of rainbows require brackish tanks, however.
