View Full Version : Java Moss, where to put it?

I just bought a bunch of Java moss today. I tied it to my driftwood and it turned out I only needed half of what I bought to cover the wood I have. Now what to do with the rest? I have never gotten it to attach to rock, is there any type of rock that works best?

The bad news is that I have a pond snail hitchhikers :( For now I am going to leave him, but if I find more, they will be loach food.

I just let mine float at the surface. It makes a great floating plant. It also manages to find plenty of places to go on its own (mainly into the intake strainer of the filter, unless there's a prefilter sponge over it). I've never had any desire to tie my java moss down to anything. It often manages to weave itself in and out among the artificial stem plants. I think it's cool.

I've tied mine to driftwood and rocks with fishing line. Floating sounds neat, I haven't tried that.

I hear it grows really well if you attach it to a coconut shell
