I got a few nerites over a year ago and they have always been non stop eaters but recently they have all slowed down and at times I thought they were dead only to see them move when a shrimp touched the trap door. Unfortunately I have plenty of algae so they should be well fed, water is hard with plenty of CaCO3 so the shells should be strong, pH and temps are stable and obviously ammonia, nitrite and nitrate are fine. My cherry shrimp are thriving so I am starting to think they might just be nearing the end? The one is still trying to get it on with the others and they do still lay eggs but their overall activity is decreased. Just wondering how long they are supposed to last.
