Why did you join AC?

I want to know why you joined AC to post or whatever you joined here to do. Wether is was to learn more about your fish, or had problems and needed help with it. Or you just like helping people with their problems.

I noticed that my Discus Fish wernt doing too well and i thought i was doing something wrong. I looked up some information about the fish, but i couldn't find what i needed. So i looked for some Aquarium Forums, and discovered about 5 or 6. But AC had something special. So i decided to ask about my fish here. I opened a thread about my problem and then decided to log off for the night, when i remembered i had to edit something on my post, and i had about 3 replies within 5 minutes, which were all helpful. Then i looked around this website and started loving it, the bank, lottery, awards, blogs. Everything i was looking for is in this website. Useful information, alot of articles and really friendly people.
I am here now to still ask some questions and to help people.

Thank you. I just want to know why people joined, if it was because they had problems with their tanks, im gunna go put some kind of poison in them lol.

I joined because it seemed like everyone here really liked each other and cared about fish. There is a lot of good information in a lot of places - but not necessarily a lot of good friends.

My question is what got you to this website. Were you looking for help? and then why did you stay here?

Hmmm, i think my first question was wether i should get piranhas or pacus, but then i soon learned i wouldnt be able to take care of either.

When i joined, i pretty much didnt know squat about fish. Now, i am able to help those in need with ease. Ive only been on this forum since january 1st too.

I tried the piranhas, i was in my LFS, and i saw the sales man feeding them a gold fish, lol, i baught 3 for 100 dollars each. I tried feeding them some goldfish but they would not eat anything infront of you, you have to go and come back in like an hour then the goldfish would be gone, i know i know.. im evil ;p I returned them 2 days later, the LFS gave me store credit of 300 dollars, they still owe me and its been months lol.

I was thinking of buying fish, so i typed the name of the fish i was going to buy and found this forum. I am so glad i did sign up too. people on here are awesome. Very helpful and very friendly.

Not to speak for him, but I think he meant not a lot of good friends in other places....not like there are on this one.


I joined b/c I had just started my new fish "hobby", people seemed very nice and very knowledgable.

I was frequenting 5 other forums when I hit on this one. I just liked the atmosphere here better. I still pop in the others now and then but can't seem to settle in. I like hanging out somewhere where I know everyone.

I still check out the angel forum for specific questions and the planted tank forum but never stay long.

I wanted to get back into aquariums and forums are a good place to find information so I just typed in aquarium forums on google and this is one of the first ones that came up.

Google search of free ebook, LOL, I'll be honest, thats how I came to be here and why I joined.

I stayed because of the knowledge of people and the freindliness was better than I had seen on many other forums.

well, I kindof decided that I wanted to keep fish and then had to learn alot fast when I "inherited" a tank full of overbreeding guppies!

I googled for forums and this one seemed active and knowledgable with an in-depth front page. I joined and asked my questions, which were answered knowledgably and sternly (which was needed, my friend had handed me a 1 gallon UGF tank and 5 guppies and told me to have fun!).

I stuck around because this place has a great sense of community and a core of very experienced posters.

I stumbled on this site because I was looking for a forum where I can exchange information, ideas and opinions of fish keeping and aquariums, maybe making a few friends on the way as well.

You can only learn so much from books, so information shared by other members is invaluable to me, even though my opinions/thoughts are often different than other members.

I signed up for AC because I found that it is one of the better sites with a very broad spectrum of the hobby, most other sites I found are geared more to Malawi Cichlids, Saltwater, Discus, etc. So AC was more appealing to me simply because there are forums for all types of aquariums and fish.

I was just looking around in the internet, and to be honest, I was looking for pics of my Sajicas. (Its interesting where one can find his/her pics in the net). And I stumbled over an intersting article about the breeding behaviour of wild caught Sajicas. Its a really interesting one, you should read it.

And a forum was also mentioned, I took a look, liked it and registered. The rest is history:ezpi_wink1:

What I like in here is the friendliness of the people, the nice mixture of topic and off topic.

Another reason of my registration is I just want to lear about fishkeeping in other countries. Oh man there are lots of differences...

I still learn, and I like to help others, its a giving and taking.

i had make alot of really good friends on this forum.


i talk to alot of them on msm messenger alot to.

and by email, and some i talk to on the phone.
