Got my first Jack Dempsey!

Hey guys, I got my first JD today after finally getting my aquarium cycled and getting the water cleared. He is so pretty!!! I wanted to take my first pictures for the site of him but as soon as I got him acclimated and in the water, he darted into one of my bubble caves :yellowcry:. I dunno why hes doing it! I just hope he does not get stuck in there (blush), I would be so upset!

I don't know much about cichlids, but JDs are nice looking fish. It sounds like normal behavior. Most fish when first introduced to a tank will hide out until they feel safe.

My EBJD took several weeks to get brave enough to stop hiding while the lights were on. My regular JD's seemed not be as bad, but they still hid for several days.
