Could be several reasons. Are there any other tankmates? And, since the vast majority of Severums are captive raised, the parents themselves may be the culprit.
The easiest way to prevent it is to steal the fry from the parents as soon as the fry are free swimming and raise them yourself.

Are you sure the fry are not causing an ammonia spike in the tank? Sometimes the addition of a bunch of babies will do that but I would suspect they are someones lunch.

I had the same thing with my pair of oblongums, the fry would disappear about a week after they became free-swimming. I finally moved the pair to another tank (they were in a 30 long with BN pleco's) and allowed the fry to grow out. After being moved to several different tanks (and tankmates) over a year or two I put the pair into a 29 to spawn again. They had spawned in the other tanks, but hadn't been able to raise any fry. They were exemplary parents in the 29, and all the fry survived until I finally moved out the pair to leave more space for the growing fry. I raised them on crushed NLS Grow pellets until they were large enough to eat them whole, now have well over 100 young ones ready to pair off. Tankspace is the limiting factor, I have oblongums spread among a 90, 55, and 40 gallon tanks to grow them to their current size.
