I have a tank that finished cycling a few weeks ago and I have slowly been adding fish to it. It will probably be another 2-3 weeks before it is fully stocked after that I was wanting to add 1 bamboo/singapore shrimp but I know that they prefer older tanks. I have had one in another tank of mine for a couple of months and I never have to feed him, he happily sits in one place all day every day. But that tank has been around for quite some time.
How old does a tank need to be to have sufficient microplankton to properly feed a filter shrimp?

im getting a bamboo as well, im waiting for my tank to hit the 6month mark before i even consider putting one in. i probably wont add one until 8+ months. i honestly have no idea what the minimum is to wait though

6 months is about how long you'd have to wait to add clams, and they're filter-feeders, too. Don't see why it'd be any different for shrimp
