I think I'll put this in the breeding forum for lack of a better idea...

What are these? If I had to guess, I'd say pond snail eggs. I've just never seen them before.
Known tank residents are rummy nose tetras, corys, cherry shrimp, nerite snail, MTS, and one (that I know of) very large pond snail.

They don't look like fish eggs to me, shrimp carry their eggs, and nerite eggs are totally different. That leaves me with pond snail or MTS.

I pulled the leaf out in case they are pond snails. I'll put it back if you think they are MTS...or something much more exciting than that :ssmile:

definitely snail eggs. Not nerite, and according to the almighty wikipedia,

Under good conditions, [MTS] females will produce fertilised eggs that are transferred to a brood pouch where they remain until they hatch (parthenogenesis and viviparity).

So I'd say we can rule them out.

Very strange indeed. The only snail eggs I'd ever seen were nerites, and yeah - totally different.

Are pond snails asexual? I really thought I only had the one...

I believe they are.

Yep those look like pond snail eggs to me. They are hermaphroditic and heterosexual. So they can reproduce both alone or paired off.

Wonderful :sconfused:

I think the one big snail is really cool. I didn't really want a bunch of micro snails all over the place. Think I'll get rid of them.

Thanks!!
