Can I just leave them in the tank or do I need to remove them?

They can be left in the aquarium as the shrimp will eat them.

Its good for their exoskeletons to eat the leftovers.

I see my shrimp carry those skeltons around. It's pretty funny. I also smash snails and watch the shrimp devour them, also trying to carry them around. Hard to believe how strong a shrimp is.

I've had ghost shrimp take an algae wafer away from a betta. Strength isn't the only thing shrimp have, a lack of self preservation seems present too.

The exoskeletons are a good source of calcium for the shrimp to feed off on.

XD And I can just imagine the betta going into full "why you!!!" flare at that
