Just set up a co2 DIY system on a 80 gallon tank with 12 java fern and 10 jungle val as well as some java moss and various small foreground plants my question is how long does it take before you start to notice a difference in plant growth and fullness . I am running at just over 1 wpg with no ferts in a sand and crushed coral substrate

DIY on 80 gallons is going to have very little effect, unless you have 4-5 bottles going.

Has you PH dropped? How much?

I used a passive system and noticed in a few weeks that my plant growth (for some, not all) became very strong and algae lost ground (but not totally beaten.) My board leaf plants didn't show as much growth. The higher the wattage, the better the growth (I have two tanks - a high wattage and low wattage and both have passive CO2.):hmm3grin2orange:

Pressurized is the way to go! Way less hassle and more affective IMO. I did paintball co2 for about 50 bucks
