Hi All,
Can you please help.... a newbie here and i'm as green as a granny smith apple

:fish: How can you tell if a cichlid is carrying fry in its mouth? and can i isolate that fish so babies don't become "Shark bait - oooh har har "

:fish: How can you tell which fish is ready to mate ?

and i have all sorts in my tank so how do i know who is mummy and daddy for the baby that is isolated at the moment ? please dont recommend a DNA.....

Firstly, what species of cichlid? The female fish will purse her mouth, occasionally opening it a little to draw in water and tumble the eggs. She will not eat during the incubation period and will generally become reclusive.
