I feel like a noobie asking this, but is my 29 gallon over stocked?? I will list all components of the tank, and I want everyone's opinion!

Tank: All Glass 29G
Substrate: Common gravel substrate
Filters: Aquaclear 20-30 HOB & Eheim 2232
Heater: 100 watt
Light: 20 Watt Flora-GLO
Plants: 2 bundels of Java Fern, 5 Bundles of Cambomba, 5 Bundles of Firn, one Brazillian sword plant
Fish: 6 Black Skirt Terras, 5 Serpae Tetras, 2 Zebra Danios, 2 Honey Sunset Red Gouramis *male and female* 2 Clown Loaches, 1 Common Pleco * I know, he's my excuse to get a 55 gallon in a year or so... hehe*
WC Schedule: 50% Weekly water changes

I do not plan to add anything other than more plants to the tank for a long time, so this is my final stocking list. With my 50% weekly water changes, along with peramiter testing every 3 days, should this be okay fish quantity wise? Thanks guys for the quick responses...

Only you can tell if it is overstocked or no. Look at it and see, if the fish have enough space to swim and you have a good filter, then it should be fine.

If you add nothing else, you will probably be OK. I would add no more, however.

Good job on the filtering and large water changes. My largest is a 55 gallon and I STILL have not gotten a canister for it yet. I have an Emporer 400 and a Penquin 350 that do a good job with the help of large water changes and cleaning of the gravel, tho. But I do want to get a canister, obviously.

The loaches are said to get about 6 inches in community tanks but much larger in the wild. Either way, they are slow growers. They live around 10 years. I have 7 and none are larger than 3 inches at over a year old.

My 29 gallon has two angels, 3 loaches, a featherfin, 9 tetras and 6 rasbora's and all are happy and healthy. Good clean water and no aggressive fish and they are fine (for now.)

I think you're fine...and like Hobbs said...I wouldn't add more...

@ Hobbs.....
Thanks for the commendation.... Have no fear, I will not be adding any new fish. Is it okay to do such a large scale water change so often?? I read in another post that it can induce pH shock as well as shock for the variences in the chemsitry of the water...

I recently upgraded my Aquaclear 20-30 (150 gph), in my 29 gallon, to a penguin bio-wheel 200 (200 gph - recommended for 50 gal tanks), and I can't believe the difference in water clarity and how much less I need to clean it.

You're probably fine since you have the added canister, but, I just thought I'd throw in my two cents about those Aquaclears, after having been frustrated with mine for a good 4 months.

I, along with many others in the planted tank community, do 50% weekly changes religiously. I've yet to have many issues (if at all) with doing that. I did a water test 1 hour after i did a 50% change and my ph and hardness didn't change.

Some people have really odd tap water which they normalize in their tanks - they need to be kinda careful other than that I've never really heard a valid argument against it. I do at least 50% every week and have for years with no problems.
