Does anyone know what this is? It's all over the sand. It's brown and wavy.

Does it come off like dust or in sheets? How old is the tank?

It's hairy and just comes out in clumps when I pull it. The tank is cycling so it pretty new. To me anyways.

That is a filamentous Algae. How high are you nitrates? that could be causing a small algae bloom, it really should hurt the tank. Fish will just eat it and it will get sucked up when you clean the substrate.

When I checked yesterday it was at like 40. Cycle should almost be done! Thanks!

If that is the case then I am almost positive it is an algae of some sort. Water changes should take care of it.
