Gouramis are friggin cute!

The title really says it all, but I just had to emphasize that. That occured to me as I was sitting here, watching Donny the blue dwarf hunt scuds.

He sits kind of still, watching the gravel intently and then suddenly lunges and sucks up something out of it (I'm just assuming it's scuds, as I have quite the colony...). Cute.:fish:

Very nice fish but do have issues with each other; also, far more senistive to nitrites than other fish I've owned.

So far no troubles with that. I think I lucked out on the BB colony. I've never had a problem with nitrites, not once! Of course when I started the tank I knew nothing about cycling it. My friendly LFS lady said I should put water in there and let it sit for a couple of days before I added fish--I guess this was supposed to be a half-***ed way of cycling? Anyway, Idid as instructed and plopped 2 goldfish in that amazingly lived!

3 months later I had to go out of state for the summer and left my DH to feed the fish. No water changes for 3 more months. I'm wondering if that is what boosted my BB colony.

Any way, long story short: dirty fish + long time no clean = BB colony that has never let me down! I still test every month or so, but I've had no problems with nitrite so far!
