In one of my 20g I have a Whisper 20. In my 10g I have a whisper 10. All the rest of the tanks I have great Filters.

second 20g Whisper 40

29g Aquaclear 50-70

38g Aquaclear 50-70

Anyway I was wondering how would it be if I took the Whisper 10 from the 10g and added it to the 20g making it 2 filters a Whisper 20 and a Whisper 10.

For the 10g I would buy a Aquaclear 10-30 or a Aquaclear 5-20

Aquaclear doesnt make filters called the "aquaclear x-x" its like, the ac 30, 50, 70, or 110.

The more filters, the merryier. Dont switch over your 10 to the 20 yet. Get your new filter, run it on your tank for a few weeks, and then do the switch.

On the contrary Drumachine, they do. I've got one on my 29 that says Aquaclear 20-30....along with my eheim of course =].

Maybe we are thinking of different Aquaclears. I was reffering to the Hagen AquaClear:

It's just a different naming, Drumachine09 - indicating the minimum and maximum tank size (in gallons) the filter is meant for.

AquaClear PowerFilter 5-20 is the same as AC 20
AquaClear PowerFilter 10-30 is the same as AC 30
AquaClear PowerFilter 20-50 is the same as AC 50
and so on.

Not to be confused with AquaClear PowerHead 20/30/50 etc (Ask for an AquaClear 50 anywhere in Europe and they'll give you a powerhead, not a hangon filter ;)

Directly from the manufacturer. Drum is right.

Before this nomenclature they called their HOBs by the number of gph the filters would cycle.

Well, yes ... and no.

You are looking at the US version of the hagen site. The same products are available in different regions under different names.

While I havent seen the 5-20 type of naming for some time, what you know as AC 70 is here currently known as AC PF 300 :)

You could do that or get the AC 10-30 for the 20 and put the whisper 20 on the 10

I'd add the AC 10-30 to the 20 and leave the other filter on for about a week so the AC could build up some good bacteria then move it but thats just the fine print!
