I dont have a big cut, but man.. I guess we're back in war with each other.
My fat little oscar seems to have his months where he does not appreciate my hand in the tank. I was cleaning, not paying attention then ZING! AHHHH!
What a nasty little creature lol Still love him though, always will even if I lose a finger.
Anyone else get an occasional bite they weren't expecting?

I didn't get a bite but I was cleaning my 29g community tank and out of no where my BN pleco comes flying out of no where when my hand is in the back of the tank and I can't bend down infront to see what I'm doing. Let's just say I almost had to change my boxers haha :18: But my friends Oscar is a wuss, it's 8in from tip to tail and it spazzes out if you make sudden movements in the room :hmm3grin2orange:

Hahaha
My 12" common pleco is a monster, he never comes near me which is nice! and has always been such a pleasure to move out of the tank. He doesn`t flip and spazz out like the others. But him and my oscar fight for the rights to ownership over my tank, hes a tough fish!
Maybe that`s why my oscar is such a meat head sometimes...

Oh man wolf cichlids have big teeth!
Ray, just be careful, you have two. They may tag team your hand lol
I'm happy my jack dempsey doesn't care, he's got a pretty good set of teeth, i'm pretty sure he would beat the oscar in a biting contest.

My angelfish attack my hand when I am cleaning. Nothing like a wolf or Oscars though just a light peck but it can sometimes startle me.

I'm a beginner when it comes to aquariums so I need help. I'm learning as I go. I have a 46 gallon octagon tank with an albino Oscar and a Pleco, not sure what kind but he looks like a sailfine, got him at petsmart. The pleco use to come out all the time, day or night, but the last couple of weeks he hides during day and feeds at night. I thought maybe it's because the oscar is getting bigger. oscar will hover over pleco when he eats zucchini. Is that the reason or is it the older they get the more they hide? Thanks for the help

Fish bites are always fun! My Gar and Dovii leave some nice bite marks!
P.s. There is an unwritten rule that states...All fish bites must be photographed and immediately uploaded to the AC.
Edit - Just saw this is an old thread...

It's all good lol add to the thread, with pics!!
Gmc... My first piece of advice is sell that tank and buy at least a 75g since your Oscar alone is WAY! too much for that.
No new bites though :D good news for me, my Oscar Heff is doing well after our move. He likes the window near the tank, spends all day looking outside :)
Not good for algae :/ but I'll deal with that. Fish is happy, so am I.

I fear that my Orbicularis will grow into a nasty tempered fish. While cleaning the tank I poked him on the forehead with my finger and since he has started attacking the glass at the sight of me. Fortunately for now he isnt smart enough to go after my hand.

My JD latched on once and did the death roll. That left quite the cut and bruise. Now I make it a point to chase her around the tank with my hand just before cleaning. She is scared by then and hides while I do my stuff. Scared the heck out of me though.

Lol Thats awful! I've been fortunate my JD has never attacked me... every other time I do a water change I'll shuffle the sand up to releases any gasses or buried waste. And everytime I stick my hand in my JD's favourite drift wood cave I am just waiting for it to happen.
Hasn't yet... Thankfully, the dudes got some pretty profound teeth

Back in the '80 I had a tank with red bellied and black piranha. While I was arranging a piece of driftwood one afternoon I felt a little hit against my forearm. It took me awhile to figure out I was messing up the tank with my blood. It didn't hurt when I got hit but it did take forever to stop bleeding. I still dont know which piranha did it, but I out lived them all.

My Oscar has a sweet personality but when I'm cleaning my red devils tank, it's a whole different story.
