Recently acquired this lil guy and started snapping away. Caught him with the flash and it kinda makes him look like he's glowing

A gsp in a community tank. Awesome, you won't have to worry about feeding him! Nice picture though.

Thanks all, I don't have any snails right now, but I will drop him some small ones from time to time. He's really mellow because he's so small. Pretty cool little fish.

The puffer looks cool but the picture looks very fake. Not saying it is, just that it looks that way.

I think that photo came out great. I LOVE pictures where the fish is in focus, but the background is blurred. Makes the "object" stand out!

Job well done! thumbs2:

I think what you're seeing is the "F" setting on the camera (OBVIOUSLY I'm not camera literate).... but when I set my "F" setting low, it tends to blur the background (my favorite type of shots).

It focuses on the object and blurs out everything else. Very nice photo!

PS... from what I hear about puffers, they're "fin nippers".... so monitor them closely.

Green spotted puffers are brackish fish and need salt as they mature. Return it to the store, or buy it a 30g tank and read up on brackish tanks.

He's getting BIG! I didn't think that these guys ever got this big, but just because I've never seen one that big. And he doesn't ever mess with the other fish in the tank. I put a lot more fake plants in there, so there is more hiding room, but they all get along pretty dang good. I'll put some pics of him up when I take some.

I don't know anything about them , But it is a great looking fish. What other fish do you have him with?:22:

You will have to get him out of that community tank at some point.

Neat fish puffers, but feeding them can be challenging.

I got my own puffer picture. If the picture does not turn up in the text, but as a thumbnail, maybe somebody can tell me how to change that.

The easiest way to do that is to upload it to photobcuket then copy and paste the img code

I was concerned about those little white spots myself, but they never change and so, apparently, they are part of the fish.

Something I never see anybody comment on is that these green puffers are chameleons to an extent. You might note that he looks slightly green. At other times he is a fairly bright yellow or a kind of dusty brown. Maybe the little white spots have something to do with the color shift?

As long as they're not 3D... you're fine. Ick is like little salt particles and would appear 3d, but if that's part of the fish's coloration, then the spots won't be raised. thumbs2:

Very nice pic.
My puffers also change colour depending on thier mood . . if they are happy with thier conditions, are well entertained and are liking thier water, then they are a very vibrant colour.
When they get bored or sleepy, they deem to darken and go an almost dusty colour as well . . they get very moody !
As long as thier lower bellies stay a nice white then they are good, its when this area starts to darken that you may want to keep an eye on them and double check the water quality.

As for the ick looking spots, these are actually tiny tiny spines that they have just under the surface of thier bodies and its perfectly normal.

lovelly fish, loving mine !
