Seems like every time I put my hands/arms into the tank I have a decent amount of hair floating around my tank afterward. I have 2 cats and it looks like some of their hair has made it's way into the tank as well. At least the fine mesh net I picked up does a good job of catching it if I try :19: Guess it's a good thing my arms aren't super hairy! Could be worse!
Am I the only one?

Nope...my dog gets fur everywhere, and it's all over my tank cleaning supplies, etc. No matter how many times I rinse them off before putting them in there, I still get fur in the tank. It falls off my clothes, too, so I guess that contributes to it. The things we put up with for love...:1luvu:

My friend had a little tank that was constantly filled with cat hair... eventually the cat ate the fish....:scry:

Is the tank covered? Sounds to me as the cat is crawling up there trying to get the fish. I can see a few loose hairs getting in there but not hair everywhere.

I thought my dogs were bad. I get hair in the new water when doing a water change in the time it takes me to walk from the tub to the tank. Scares me when I think how much of it I must eat/inhale.

Sometimes I find both human and feline hair in my tanks. Most of it goes down the overflows but I dont see why they would be harmful unless they were soaked in a chemical. Hair is inert and many fish do have hair in their stomachs after being filleted up(sport fish not tropical fish like tetras).

My cats are short hairs but they still shed a lot. Glad they aren't jumping up to the tank. Would be a little hard for them to get to the top at least. Nothing to gain a footing. Hopefully they show the same lack of interest when swimmin fishies are present..
...just vacuum the top of the tank and any other surfaces nearby frequently...that will help keep the hair down. I have one cat that sleeps on top of the light, and it's not too hairy if you vacuum...

My cats love to lay on top of the fishtank and there is static cling on the hood and lids and so it is always covered in cat hair that I have to wipe off before I can do any feeding or maintenance on my tank. Not to mention the cat hair/dog hair/my hair that might be stuck to my clothes. I need to start tying my hair back before I clean my tank because once in a while I see one of my long hairs floating around, and it is especially scary if I have recently dyed my hair. I guess its a good thing I just cant find time to do that anymore.

I don't have too much trouble with the cat hair IN the tank. But I do sometimes have issues with cat chin oil on one of the corners. -.-

I brush her about 2-3 times a month, I usually end up with a hairball the size of her. Pair that with two other cats and a pug that sheds like hes going bald. Lots of hair.
You might want to put a litter pan in there...:hmm3grin2orange:

My doe leg chee-wow sheds EVERYWHERE but in my tank... weird. Well i guess not so much compared to the feedback but I dont have a single hair I have ever found in my tank or intake tube.

I have 2 cats, no cat hair in my tanks though. All tanks are covered and the cats know that getting on top of them is a no no.
If the tank is empty and uncovered its prime real eastate though *L*

I cant keep Mr Magoo off the 40B(its my red ear slider turtle tank), I figure as long as Shelly is OK with it who am I to evict him. Aint my fault if she bites him in the bum.

My cats have been ever vigilent watching me set the tank up. They're not very interested in it even with the bubbles. Which I find amazing. Guess that's a good thing.
Not seeing much hair in it right now at least.
Even though my arm's been in the tank for the last 2 hours!

Well it's not good to put your arm in the tank alot anyway. Got the darn nematodes...got em out. Gonna do the bleach soon.

~Alasse~ Is that a ragdoll in the bottom picture? That looks like mine.
Our tank has hair floating around. If I try to pluck it out, I end up putting a new one (or two or three) in! I learned to just let it go to the intake.
