for most of my life, i had,a dog. growing up mom and dad had a big kennel.
and i had,had many different kinds of dogs, over the years.

but for the last 22 years or there about, i had, had siberian husky dogs.
at one time i had 5 of them, plus 1 20 pound mutt.

but now i got one, and he was 20 years old in april.

but this is the story about one of them. she been dead for 5 or 6 years now.
she was 17 years old when she die.
one day a woman came here, and had her on the chain. she handed the chain to me, i said what? well we can not keep her and we know you will give her a good home. i said ,ok. now she said there is one thing, she hates men, so be carefully.
she did some snaling at me as i took her in the house. but in less than the week, she was eating out of my hand.
she was 10 or 11 months old when i got her.

one time in the winter, i was out side and i fell and broke my leg.it hurt quite bad and all i could do was pull myself along. she was in the window watching me, and i do not know why i done this , but i did.
i yell to her, lady, help me(her name was lady). and she came threw the window(broke the window), and came to me and she never left me till i got in the house. she even try to help me, by pulling me along.

another time, i was walking back to the house and she was laying in the doorway. i walk under the big old spure tree, and out of the corner of my eyes, i could see what look to be a bobcat, coming down the tree.
i seen him jump for me, and i went into a ball and yell for her.
well befor it was over there was one sick looking bobcat, going down threw the woods as fast as it could go.
i was as luck would have it, unhurt, but my heavy coat, that i had on was ripped up quite bad.

and this is the mother to the one i got now.

People wonder why I put so much time, effort and $$$ into my dogs......stories like Rollie's are why....someday they may protect me or my children. I had a chow once who was quite mellow and friendly for a chow, very little of the standoffishness common to chows. One night when I had her outside to potty she all of a sudden came running towards me snarling her head off. I was shocked and confused, this was not like her. Here, there was a large unfriendly looking man behind me who backed off after her approach and claimed to be just getting into his car.....he was on the passenger side! I cried for days when I lost her.

WOW Rollie! That is one great dog and a great story too! You live where bobcats roam around! Holy cow! That's wild! We live in the city but we still see the occasional coyote because we have a creek running through our neighborhood. Don't think we'll ever see a bobcat around these parts though. Oh and my dog is a greyhound. She mostly lays around on a pillow and eats and begs for pets. I'm not sure she'd ever save me from a bobcat but she might be able to out run one. LOL!

when i go outside, you never know what you will see. lol

there is a mountain lion(more than one) around here to.

one of these day, i will tell you all about the bobcat, that i kill with only my bare hands and a hunting knife. but not today. i am a little bit tried today. lol

one man on the south shore, the other year, went outside and when he came back in, there was a bobcat in his house. this was in the papers.

I used to live in the mountains in PA, one year I was sitting at a stop light getting ready to turn into walmarts shopping center and a black bear ran across the road infront of me. lol You never know what will come out of a mountainous area. :)
