This is my firsf time I have used a web site like this so please excuse me if this does not work.
I have been keeping Malawi Cichlids for 12 months now and recently bought some Maylandia Estherae (Red or orange ) Not sure but they have bred for the second time and in both cases the fry were two different colours. Some are Orange like the parents and others do not have any colour except dark bars down the sides on a silvery background.
Is this normal and will these become another colour or stay as they are. Also should I remove them to prevent crossbreeding?

Your post worked!

I don't know about cichlids, but I do know that sometimes the offspring of fish won't look anything like the parents. I have swordtail fry that look similar to the silver/dark bars that you describe but the parents were, I believe, pineapple and red velvet swords. I am starting to wonder if they ever will develop color!

Maybe they crossbred with another cichlid in the tank?
