I have 5 goldfish i think only 2 of them are at an age where they can breed (( i know nothing about breeding & don't really care if they do or dont) these 2 are over a yr old, the other 3 are much younger.

I had been thinking Mr. Incredible was the boy -i thought the males start to chase around & harass the females when they want to breed (or is that just people?) A few weeks ago there were eggs, nothing happened with them but that meant Mr. Incredible & Ben were breeding - after a little research I thought Ben was actually a girl...but now he has breeding stars - does this mean he is in fact male?

the other thing is that Mr. Incredible (Ms.?) is chasing Ben & the younger ones around, smashing into them, sticking his face in their butts (yup im not kidding) he's knocked scales off the side of one of the younger ones...is this normal for a female wanting to breed or is Mr. Incredible still a Mr.?

Is it possible one of the younger ones is ready to breed?

thanks for the link i didnt even think to check here

i've now looked & Ben AND Mr. Incredible have the breeding stars - now i get Mr. Incredibles behaviour, so if both are over a yr old & male where did the eggs come from a few weeks ago?

i really dont think the two orandas could be a yr old & i know the ranchu is only months old

im going to look up danio eggs & see what they look like - i have not idea if my danios went into breeding mode...

well nope...

Ben & Mr. Incredible have the breeding stars, which does mean they are male

The eggs i saw a few weeks ago were goldfish eggs, not danio

Unless one of my orandas is older than i thought i'm not sure whats going on in that tank lol
or if people are wrong about only males having the breeding stars...

I guess it doesnt matter with sand substrate, snails & a pleco any eggs will be eaten up in no time

kind of happy i know that mr. incredible's behaviour is probably from wanting to breed & not just plain old being a jerk:hmm3grin2orange:
