View Full Version : Adding shrimp to my 55 gallon??

I've currently got a 55g planted tank. One angel, two pearl gourami, a school of dwarf neon rainbows and 2 upside down cats. I'd love to add shrimp to the tank, but I'm concerned about them becoming snacks to the other fish. Any shrimp I can add that would have a good chance of doing well in my tank?

Perhaps one of the larger varieties like wood shrimp would work, but small shrimp like ghosts or rcs would more than likely get gobbled up.

They will get eaten.

wood/flower shrimp would be ok. I have a flower shrimp (which are also called wood shrimp) and he is doing great. Know that they are filter feeders and won't eat algae though.

Thanks guys... Was wondering about one of the larger varieties. Might be something to look into this summer after I move.

I tossed a bunch of ghost fish into my moderately planted 90g with a school of angelfish and various others and I actually still notice some come out after dropping in some algae wafers. I don't expect them to last very long once the angels get bigger though, no matter how planted the tank is.
