Why would someone want to pee on a likeness of the Virgin Mary?

...as a society, we're taking unnecessary disrespect to a new level...just another attempt at shocking and attention seeking...

...can't comment...they didn't say it was the Virgin Mary...
...if it isn't, then it's 'just' a piece of decoration...like Greek Statuary, etc.
...if it is...then maybe whoever ordered them didn't know...I don't know what percentage of China is Catholic...I can't see an attempt at the World's Largest Bathroom wanting that kind of negative attention by the world's Catholic population...

Seriously though, I think the idea is kind of neat. Shows creativity and free thought, something that China is not very well known for.

Well they didn't say it was the Virgin Mary, but the article does state: "Some urinals are uniquely shaped, including ones inside open crocodile mouths and several topped by the bust of a woman resembling the Virgin Mary."

There was a study done, in which a house fly's likness was etched into the bottom of the urinal. The studies said it increased "accuracy" by 100%. Lol.
Whoa, you could use a different toilet every day and not have to use the same one for YEARS!

If you ever fly into Amsterdam's Schipol airport, they did this and it's quite amusing watching people taking pictures of the little fly. The idea is that that the fly is painted on the point of the urinal that will produce the lowest possible splatter/spray while answering the call of nature.
The airport in Dusseldorf has the same idea but they painted a candle in the urinal.

Quite a few pubs in Germany have an extra "urinal" in the mens room. Bascially it's placed higher then your average urinal and also a little bit smaller. You don't pee in it though, it's there if you've had too much to drink, and most places even place handles on the wall beside the "urinal" to assist you while you up-chuck your lunch .. :19:
