Do any of your snails tuck themselves in and just float in the water for like the whole day?

Yes. Certain sorts, such as the apple snail, will do this. As long as the door is closed, there should be no need for concern.
...I've been watching my mystery snails...and the ramshorn I keep for the dwarf puffers...
...lots of floating around happening with all of the them...
The coolest is when they they slowly go UP the water column...get air...and then go back DOWN the water column...
Rue, do I remember a while back you posting a pic of a tank of snails you raise for your puffer? If I'm right, may I ask if you heat/filter it?
...it's a holding tank for adult snails I get for free from the petstore (pest snails, I pick them myself)...none of the mystery snail eggs have hatched, so I haven't tried rearing any yet...
...and I was just doing partial daily water changes on it...no heat...no filtration...
...but I can see that for long-term (more than 2 weeks) you would need to heat and filter it...

Damit then I think that snail was still alive but he is long gone now. I walked out on my deck and chucked him like a golf ball into the woods.
My other one was floating the other day in water and my mom said o just leave it. I did and sure enough the next morning it was attached again.
I just threw the other one out because in the morning it was floating and when I came home it was floating.
Nonetheless I am sure I will have plenty more in no time.
How long does it usually take a snail to reproduce and how long do the babies take to grow?
