Well I decided to finally use the little hex. And while it's not an ideal size for a betta, this little fella seems to be loving having room to move (over the cup at the LFS). He didn't seem to know what to do when I first put him in there.
His name is Dicey, care of my 5 year old son and he's a crowntail. Very hard to get a pic of him, the second shot shows how bright and vibrant his colours are.

He prefers me to drop in one little betta pellet at a time. He refuses to eat the pellets if I drop them all in at once...NO...I have to wait until he's eaten one and then drop in the next one. He has a LOT of personality. :hmm3grin2orange:

^_^ He is a beauty. And I'll have to try that feeding technique with Firetail; that is one picky fish

Mine is the same way, refuses to eat any of the pellets once they've touched the gravel. I drop on in, he eats it, I drop the next one 1-2 inches ahead of him. He follows my hand, so if I drop one and he doesn't spot it, I point to it and he goes and sees. After 5-6 pieces, he swims away. If he eats 8-9 pieces, he will only eat 2-3 at his second daily feeding.
