I have some lava rock but I didn't know how it would work in a planted tank. I want the most natural look so I have some plain old big black smooth rock in there. Other than that it's driftwood and plants.

Hard to get stuff to grow on it.

My Java fern seems to grow regardless of what it's sitting on. I have a few pieces that just seem to be rooted to each other and they are doing well. If they don't attach to the lava rock, I'm ok with that too. The Kribs have staked their claim and I might have kriblets soon. They have just been waiting for a place to have their eggs.
