It seems like I have caused some confusion about the posting of links so I thought I should make a post to make it clear that I don't mind users posting useful links in their answers. In fact I am all for it. And if a contributing user I.e. someone to participate in the forum want to post a link to something they find cool, useful or otherwise wants to share that’s fine too.
What I don't tolerate is users posting promotions i.e. spam on these forums regardless of whether it is aquarium related or not. An example is if someone who never posted on the forums comes a long and post promotional links for his website like the post I edited and thereby causing this confusion. He had in fact posted those exact links without any content once before so it seems safe to assume that he is only looking to promote his website and not to participate in these forums.
I should also make it clear that you are allowed to have any family non SE banned links you want in your sig.
I welcome any opinions on these forum policies.
