I have a 12 pound bag of flourite. It had a hole and was sitting on a shelf for a year, so some came out in that time. But that's why I got it for 8 dollars. :)

Any way, if I want to use it in a 20g high tank, would there be too little flourite if I mixed the 12 pounds with gravel or sand or would it be okay? Or should I just buy another bag of flourite?

Does the gravel work better if it is the same particle size as the flourite, or is it okay to use larger gravel? Can I mix it with "industrial sand" that I bought at home depot, or will it sink to the bottom?

what do you guys think?

I used a layer of laeterite under my gravel. It looks better and make less of a mess. Iwould expect flourite to work out the same. You should have plenty of it for that size tank.

I would use gravel instead of sand - but thats just me

Agree. I didn't like the florite color so gravel when on top for me as well. Also held the dust down on water changes. You can also mix it as long as there is more fluorite than gravel.
