Can Dogwood wood be used in my tank? Theres a dead limb on one of my dogwood tress and after boiling it and such does anyone know if it would do anything weird to the water besides giving it a brownish tinge?

You can use just about any wood. hardwoods are better than soft woods because they usually have less sap.

You may need to soak it for a long time to get it to stop leaching and actually sink though.

(Or silicone it to a rock)

I've got a thread going pretty much on the same subject right now, boil it in salt water, and then boil it again for awhile, then let the pot cool. I'm going to see if it lowers my ph, since things like wood/leaves breaking down is a little acidic, at least for the soil it is.
