My blood parrots have been laying eggs every 4 days or so for the last couple weeks!!! It's a shame the male is sterile because they are laying massive amounts of eggs. Free snacks I guess for the other fish in the tank.

How warm is their water? That's a lot of spawns. Mine just got done Monday but now won't spawn again for awhile. I only have 1 female to 4 males, tho.

WOW. I'm on a roll transposing words!!!!! Sorry all.

Now I know that BP males are sterile but something I have searched for and not found out is why? If they are a cross breed to make the fish, why does that automatically make the males sterile?

There is the theory on the BPs being intentionally made sterile by shady overseas market protection practices, but I have no idea if that is true or not. I also read from time to time remarks about successful breedings, meaning non-sterile males, but again I have seen no evidence. They are a weird fish to find any sort of truth about.
