a few years back, i was in a pet shop, looking around.
there was a person there complaining about their fish having no babys.

the person you run the store, try to give him some help, but it seem like she did not know what to say.he said, i go to other pet shops and buy fish, they will have youngs for me, but not here. so what is going on.
she said, i only run a store, otherwise i can not say.

so after the while he left and there was only me and her in the store.
i said ,you know that man had a point. it is very hard to get fish that come from this store to have youngs, so why.

she said, there is too many peoples fish having youngs. and we sell less because of it.

so when the fish order come in ,we give it a copper treatment.
she said, x amount will cure certain things, xx amount will help stop fish from having youngs, and xxx amount will kill the fish.

oh , i said, i knew copper was good for certain things and i knew too much copper would kill the fish. but i did not know it was a forum of birth control for fish.
and i had found this to be true. so now i try not to used copper to treat anythings. when you been in fish as long as i been, you see alot of funny things.lol

copper will stop people from having babies too, eh. that's the idea behind IUDs. it's like a pelvic grappling hook.

I think they do that at one of my lfs. They'll have male and female platys kept together, no females are pregnant. How long does the copper birth control for the fish after they're sold.

Finally I have an explanation why my platy or my brothers platys won't have babies.

Hmmm....this might be very useful (looking at the 30g with all those baby platy, mollies, whatever in there...)

Wonder how much was the magic amount?

Most metals aren't readily eliminated from living things either - especially primitive species (ie fish) I would not under any circumstances use something like copper (malachite green) on my fish unless I had a pressing medical reason to do so.

There may be tons of scientific research somewhere proving me wrong and that opinion may make me a flat earth kook - but I'm sticking with it!

i will not used copper to treat fish. if i know it got copper in it, i do not used it. once it in your body it can be hard to get rid off. lol
