What temperature do you keep the tank?
What rainbows were thinking of adding?

I keep rainbows and goldfish together. Most rainbows do just fine at room temperature (provided you heat your house), which is fine for the goldfish too.

Im in Phoenix so winters here are more like spring time everywhere else.

Do you recommend any specific species of rainbows?

Rainbows are rainbows. There are some 60 different species of melanotaenia rainbows. In my experience with the 4 species I have, they are all the same. I have a group of 20 (8 praecox, 4 boesmani, 4 yellow and 4 turquise). I feed the goldfish pellets that are too large for the rainbows to eat, otherwise I would be concerned about the goldfish competing for food.

Some, like the turquise, like the water a little cooler. Others a little warmer. But they most have 75 in common, which is pretty average for room temperature. It's okay if the water gets warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter (or maybe opposite in your case) - happens all over the world.
