Recently purchased two snails for my aquarium. One snail appears to be fine. Tavelling around fine. The other didn't move from where it was dropped in tank. Had been that way for two days. I thought it was dead, but it was tight in the shell. Today I looked and the shell was empty! The snail has vacated the shell and is roaming around the tank. What would cause this to happen ? Other fish (5) are small gold fish and one small bottom feeder
Thanks

Gold fish tend to eat snails. That might be the issue. At my LFS they will move GF from there tanks to tanks that have a snail infestation. Also I have GF and they ate snails as well.

i agree my girlfriends goldfish readily ate some MTS i put in her tank for here. have heard of goldfish getting them out of the shell and eating them, but i havent heard of snails surviving it!

if possible could you post a picture? it would be interesting to see what a live snail without a shell looks like!

I hate to say it, but your snail is not roaming the tank without it's shell. It died and the fish ate it.(blush)

Guess this should be moved from the angelfish forum to the snail forum.
