My beautiful girl passed away recently. Kiwi, the gold variant Three-Spot Gourami. Estimated to be at about two years of age.

For several months after I first received her in 2008 she appeared male, as I did not realize she had not filled out her fins entirely as she grew. Thus, the original name of Shakespeare. Once it became apparent of what she really was, female, her name was changed to Kiwi, stealing the Wi- off original Shakespeare’s own name.

However she was always my strongest fish, always my survivor – even in the face of a near certain death by viral infection that killed my other three Gouramis – always my pride and joy, always my reason to keep with my aquariums.

Yet now there’s a tank, seemingly empty, as it’s only inhabitants are nocturnal catfish, and I don't know what to do with it.

Sorry to see you gone, Kiwi.

Sorry to hear that Void. She's been your favourite for so long - hard to lose your favourite fish.

Yeah, I'm fine enough. We're also probably going to have to put a cat down this week, so... meh. This weekend has not been one of my better ones.

Oh well. I'm well enough in any case to start thinking about what to do with her tank. Not well enough to actually go into the room with her tank besides dropping in a few catfish pellets, but oh well. Progress I guess.

Iunno. Room just feels weird without her presence, even though she was only five inches long and rarely came out of her favorite spot during the hours I spent in there.

Its hard, she was a member of your family, just like your kitty. I hope everything goes ok with you this weekend. Keep your chin up.... <hugs>

She looked beautiful from her picture. It is amazing how such a small creature can have so great an impact on our lives.

Sorry to hear about your cat as well. I just had to say goodbye to a stray I adopted (or "was adopted by") 8 years ago. The house is very different without him.

Know that I am thinking of you and feel your loss as well. :caress:
